These 40 days of Lent are an opportunity to grow in our spiritual life.
We are encouraged to follow the pattern of Jesus who spent 40 days in the desert to fast and pray.
In rebuking Satan, Jesus said, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.”
Consider fasting:
from television and internet
from emails and texts
from videos and social media
... to make room for prayer
time to speak to God from our hearts
time to listen to God in our heart
time to pray with our spouse and family
time to examine our lifestyle and habits
time to let the WORD of God touch our hearts
Prayer
Lord our God,
you formed man from the clay of the earth
and breathed into him the spirit of life,
but he turned from your face and sinned.
In this time of repentance
we call out for your mercy.
Bring us back to you
and to the life your Son won for us
by his death on the cross,
for hie lives and reigns for ever and ever.
