REFLECT:
“He to whom all things are one, and who draws all things to one and who sees all things in one, may be steady in heart, and peaceably repose in God.” (1 Cor. 2:2)
How often have you had the truth about something starring you right in the face and somehow, miss it? I know for me, there have been many times in my life where I knew and saw the truth but still chose the wrong path. Today in the Gospel, the Pharisees have Jesus, The Word Incarnate, the Truth, right there in front of them, yet they don’t see it or were unable to see it. They even ask Jesus “who are you?” He tells them “IAM”, not once but three times. For the Pharisees, this should have sparked something deep in their minds and hearts but somehow, just like us at times, their hearts were hardened and they invariably…. Missed it!
We are in the fifth week of Lent and next week begins Holy Week. Have you taken some time to really look deeply into your faith. Ask yourself this question, if Jesus were to stand lash to lash with you today, would your heart be filled with enough faith to see the Truth right in front of you?
