St. Paul’s for Students

The Cathedral Parish welcomes in a great way all our college students.  We are delighted that so many join us for the celebration of Mass on Sunday and during the week, as well as come to the Sacrament of Confession regularly.

College students are welcome to participate in any of the ministries of the parish and are encouraged to participate in faith formation programs, organizations and activities of the parish community.

We work closely with the Oratorians in providing outreach to our college students through the campus ministry programs, including the FOCUS missionaries who are active on the campus.

Some particular highlights for our college students this year include:

  • EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND BENEDICTION FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR OF FAITH.  Beginning in October we will have a monthly Eucharistic adoration beginning at 1:00 PM, following the 12:00 Noon Mass and concluding with the celebration of Solemn Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5:00 PM until 5:30 PM, with the Mass taking place at 6:00 PM.  It is our hope that many college students will see this as an opportunity to spend time in quiet, prayer and reflection with the Blessed Sacrament and join us for prayer and worship on those days.
  • CATHOLIC ACTION,  conducted by the Oratory, is held every Sunday evening for college students in the parish social hall underneath the Church immediately following the 6 PM Mass. There are refreshments as well as an opportunity to hear a speaker on some aspect of our faith and to engage in dicussion.  All are welcome to come.
  • OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE are also an important part of being connected to a parish. We hope that our college students will find ways to use their many gifts and talents in service to God’s people here at St. Paul Cathedral and there are many diverse opportunities for service for those students interested in becoming involved.
  •  LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA will be working with the Cathedral parish in providing a wealth of CD’s on a number of important topics that will be a great learning resource for our college students and young adults.  In addition to the CD’s there are a number of pamphlets, brochures and books that are available as well.

Be sure to make time to make it to Sunday Mass! We know your weekend schedule can be busy, so we put together a list of all the Sunday Masses in and around the Oakland area.
